Anne Carter

Anne Laurel Carter has an M.Ed in second language teaching. She worked in Ontario and Northern Quebec as a librarian, and as an ESL and French Immersion teacher before writing twenty books for young readers.

My Home Bay won the Canadian Library Association Best Book for Children Award (2005), as did The Shepherd’s Granddaughter (2009), which also won a Jane Addam’s Honor Award for peace. Her picture books have been nominated for awards across Canada. Under A Prairie Sky  won the Mr. Christie Best Picture Book in Canada in 2003.

 She teaches creative writing at the University of Toronto, School of Continuing Studies
and divides her time between Toronto Island and the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
