Erin K Barnes

At the beginning of her writing career, Erin K. Barnes dove right into the fun stuff: Writing for local papers like Westword and The Denver Post, she covered music as well as the breweries, bars and wineries circuit. Finding that even A&E journalism didn't quite satisfy her need for snark, Erin founded The Donnybrook Writing Academy, a satirical society blog featuring great Denver-area writers writing under preposterous pen names, which won "Best Blog" in Westword in 2009.

During this period, while continuing to write for Huffington Post, Ralph Lauren and, her publicity career blossomed as she rubbed (tweed) elbows with Denver musicians, filmmakers, restaurateurs and artists. With a decade of PR experience under her belt, and this being Colorado, Erin currently does PR and social media for the star of the documentary Rolling Papers, one of Fortune Magazine's Seven Most Powerful People in America's Marijuana Industry, Ricardo Baca (and his full-service agency, Grasslands Content Agency). There she represents pot barons like Andy Williams, as well as singing telegram artists like Orange Peel Moses, and horror films like Apartment 212.

For six years she's also been the devoted scribe & publicist for the infamous Colorado institution, Illegal Pete's, where she penned the tagline Burritos, buddies and beer. She also runs their "Starving Artists" program, giving free burritos to touring bands who come through Colorado.

Erin was recently featured in the NYTimes investigative piece on media personalities having their online identities impostered, was one of 303 Magazine's 70 Colorado Creatives featured in honor of 303 Day. She is slated to be profiled in Westword's 100 Colorado Creatives.

Her first novel, Tintabula, is bedtime novel, a comfort fantasy in the form of speculative fiction, an odyssey that explores the twists and turns of consciousness, interoception and the psychic landscape.
