Melanie Wills

Melanie's love of storytelling and communication invades many genres and knows no bounds. As a part-time adult and full-time daydreamer, Melanie has been active in the fields of science, education, and media, as well as linguistic and visual arts. Her potential as a fiction author was first recognized in 1996, when she received the national Prism Writing Award in the humour category for a children's story about two scheming pets.

Her dystopian vision of the future of nanotechnology captured the Best Short Story prize at the Toronto International Teen Movie Festival in 2002. She holds a degree from the University of Guelph, and has also been recognized with the Governor General's Silver Medal and the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship.
