Richard A. Kirk is an author, illustrator, and visual artist. He was born in Kingston upon Hull, England in 1962 and currently lives in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Richard is the author of the fantasy novels THE LOST MACHINE and NECESSARY MONSTERS, as well as an illustrated short story collection MAGPIE’S LADDER. Richard’s illustrated novel, TAILOR OF ECHOES, published in early 2022. He's currently working on a series.  

Richard exhibits artwork internationally. He has illustrated works by Clive Barker, Christopher Golden, Caitlín R. Kiernan, Thomas Ligotti, China Miéville, the rock band Korn and others. A lifelong lover of books, Richard works in an academic library where he can be found in the stacks.
