Yvette d'Entremont holds bachelor's degrees in theatre and chemistry and a master's degree in forensic science. With a background working as an analytical chemist, she started her facebook page, SciBabe, as a way to battle the BS on the internet. Her site aimed to debunk pseudoscience with humor and thoroughly researched science, and Yvette was surprised by her early success.

 

Seven months later, her first article at Gawker titled The Food Babe Blogger is Full of Shit took the internet by storm, amassing over 4.7 million hits and turning SciBabe from a hobby into a career.

 

Yvette speaks all over the world now on recognizing the hallmarks of bad science and writes both on her own site and for Slate. Her first book, SciBabe's Ten Rules To BS Detection, came out in 2016. She lives in southern California with her boyfriend Derek and their animals.
