Dorothy Bentley writes articles, cartoons, columns, poetry and fiction. Her picture book, Summer North Coming (Fitzhenry & Whiteside) was released in 2019, and her YA novel, Escape from the Wildfire (Lorimer Kids & Teens) was released in 2022. She won the RMWB Words in Motion poetry contest in 2016, and she was short-listed for an Excellence in the Arts Award by Arts Council Wood Buffalo in 2022. She lives in Foothills County with her family, a Sheltie named Clay, and a cat named Whitney Mewston who likes to sing. Dorothy loves doing school presentations and she's a serial volunteer with writers' organizations, including the VP seat for the Writers' Guild of Alberta Board of Directors.
