Lynda Calvert

Lynda Calvert is an award-winning journalist, journalism teacher and writer in Toronto.

She has written non-fiction for years, travelling across Canada as a CBC national reporter to chronicle the lives of Canadians. It was only later in life Lynda came to appreciate the power of using fiction to tell the truth. She began writing her debut novel How the Invisible Woman Learned to Fly to get a few things out of her system, such as – why can’t a broke, overweight, single mother fly around the world and save people à la Tony Stark?

When Lynda isn’t writing quirky, whimsical fairy tales for grown-ups, she’s ignoring the fact she has no sense of wind direction while learning to sail; stress baking; watching old Star Trek movies; and/or wondering why her dog barks at anything with wheels.

Lynda studied undergraduate English literature, political science and economics at the University of Toronto and Université Laval. She also holds a Master of Global Affairs from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto.
