Elaine Lee

Elaine Lee is an artist with a keen eye for detail and colour! She is also a motivational speaker, writer, screenwriter, playwright, poet, actress and a creative soul who uses her life experience to create, inspire and advocate for positive change in society.

Born in Vancouver, BC with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (also known as Brittle Bones), Elaine was not expected to live past the age of two years old. With most of her bones brittle and broken, Elaine spent the first five years of her life, living in a hospital where she started drawing at the age of three years old!  By the age of seven, Elaine moved to Whitehorse, Yukon where her passion for life and creativity, truly unfolded! Inspired by her beloved late friend and nationally renowned artist, Mr. Ted Harrison, Elaine won the National Canada Day Poster Challenge art competition in 1993 and 1994 (2nd. Place) and 1995 (1st. Place on a National Level)! She also won the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award in 1997 (a $16,000.00 scholarship) for her dedication and volunteerism to fundraise for local charities and read to children at schools and hospitals, assist seniors to paint their fingernails in the Make-up and Manicure Program and uplift them in their seniors’ home. Elaine even worked at the Yukon Human Rights Commission one summer as a Public Education Officer.

Determined to become a child advocacy lawyer, counsellor or teacher she returned to Vancouver to attend Simon Fraser University, but later transferred to Emily Carr University for another six years where she graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree!

Based in Calgary, Alberta, Elaine teaches art to kids (K-Gr. 6) as an Artist-in-Resident. Elaine has also acted on-stage, short films and tv shows (“The Klondike” - a three part mini series on “Discovery”) and (“Damnation” - Ep. 5). Elaine continues to advocate for people of all abilities, volunteering with children, seniors and the annual Salvation Army Kettle Campaign and is currently writing her memoir.

Despite Elaine’s petite size and condition, weighing only 26 pounds at a “height” of 2 feet ¾ of an inch “tall,” Elaine is tiny but mighty and lives life to the fullest!

“Art is the air I breathe, in everything I do and all that I am.”
