Gemma Joyce is a UK-based writer and police detective who writes emotionally resonant fiction about strong women and the extraordinary life journeys of ordinary people. 

Gemma has been writing since she could hold a pen, but it's taken a few years for her to complete her first novel amidst police investigations, life events, and plenty of her own personal plot twists. Gemma's debut novel was selected for the second round of The Bridport Prize, placing in the top 5% of entrants in 2025.

Proudly queer and unapologetically neurodivergent, Gemma resides in Hampshire with her wife, dog, and two cats, all of whom have strong (and sometimes conflicting) opinions about her writing. She is currently working on her next novel.
