jason chu
As a kid in suburban Delaware, jason chu found a vocabulary for racial identity and liberation in hip-hop music & culture. Now a nationally-recognized artist and speaker, he brings a clear and urgent social conscience to stages around the country and globally.
As an activist educator, jason is a sought-after voice on racial justice, Asian American history, hip-hop culture, and the arts. He was a member of the LA Mayor’s Office 1871 Memorial Subcommittee and a 2022 Artists at Work Fellow at the Japanese American National Museum. He's spoken and hosted events for the National Academy of Medicine, LA County Community College District, and the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, and was the orientation keynote speaker for the Hunter College Class of 2028.
jason's music has been heard in Valorant (Riot Games), Warrior (HBO/Max), American Born Chinese (Disney+), Joy Ride (2023), Mayans M.C. (FX), Kung Fu (The CW), Tetris Beat (Apple Arcade), and more. His latest album, We Were the Seeds, released in 2023 and is streaming on all platforms.
