Kerry Eilleen

Kerry Eilleen is a landscape and garden historian. Her master's thesis looked at California freeway design and its intersection with art, culture, and society. She is a member of the Society of Architectural Historians and the California Garden and Landscape History Society.

Kerry's love of gardens began at the age of seven as she ran through the fragrant flower beds in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and the herb gardens in William Land Park in Sacramento. Years later, she enrolled at the University of California, Davis to study landscape architecture. Eventually, she found her way into the humanities program at California State University, Dominguez Hills where she focused on architectural theory and the human-built environment.

Kerry has a studio art practice focused on printmaking using Japanese woodblock techniques. She also creates large monoprint assemblages. Her imagery is often garden-oriented. Before entering her studio each day, Kerry practices one hour of LongevityTree Qigong.

Kerry is part of a writing team with her daughter, Amanda Kooser. They are developing a series of historical mystery novels that explore botany, myth, art and ancient gardens.
