Leslie Shimotakahara's memoir The Reading List won the Canada-Japan Literary Prize, and her fiction has been shortlisted for the KM Hunter Artist Award. Her debut novel, After the Bloom (Dundurn 2017) received a starred review from Booklist, and her second novel Red Oblivion will be published by Dundurn in September 2019. Leslie completed her PhD in English at Brown University. She and her partner, Chris Wong, divide their time between Toronto and Hong Kong.
