Lois Donovan

Lois was born in Montreal, Quebec, and has lived in several cities from the east coast to the prairies. After obtaining degrees at Acadia University and University of Alberta, she completed a Fine Arts Diploma in music from University of Calgary. Following a rewarding teaching career, Lois decided to indulge her passion for writing.

She is the author of two historical time-travel novels. Her first, Winds of L’Acadie, tells of the devastating deportation of the Acadians in 1755 and her second, The Journal, is set in the Alberta of 1929 as Emily Murphy and the Famous Five battle for women’s rights.

In addition to writing, Lois loves presenting the stories behind her novels and the writing process with students of all ages. She also conducts writing workshops at schools and young writers’ conferences and is a frequent speaker at teachers’ conventions.

Currently Lois lives in Calgary with her husband and daughter. When she is not writing or talking about writing, she can be found walking along nature paths with her two Shelties.
