In elementary school, Rachel’s first picture book, The Invasion of the Giant Slugs, won a blue ribbon at a Young Author’s contest. Inspired by her salad days, she continues to pen picture books with the hope of sparking curiosity, joy, and laughter in her readers.

Rachel obtained her Associate’s Degree from Leeward Community College before briefly studying ceramics at the Appalachian Center for Craft. She finished her Bachelor of Arts degree at The Evergreen State College. She currently works in the Collections Department at one of the largest public library systems in Washington State.

Rachel’s hobbies include reading with her cat on her lap, thrifting for trinkets, exploring Japan from the tip of Mount Fuji to the shores of the Shimanami, and cultivating an obsession for grape parfaits.
