Ali Bryan's COQ, a follow-up to the author's debut ROOST, has sold to Kelsey Attard at Freehand Books. COQ is a contemporary family comedy that explores grief, identity, and second chances over the course of an outrageous memorial trip to the city of love.
"Fans that have been with Ali Bryan since her debut novel, ROOST, will be thrilled to revisit Claudia and her family ten years later, and new fans will be thrilled to have more of Ali's writing to binge,” said The Rights Factory agent Stacey Kondla.
COQ is scheduled for publication in spring 2023. Ali Bryan’s previous YA novel, THE HILL, was published in 2021.

Ali Bryan’s New Deal: COQ presents an engaging and thoughtful look at how communities respond to change, uncertainty, and the search for identity. The writing style feels sharp yet reflective, allowing readers to connect with the characters and their struggles in a meaningful way. Bryan balances humor with deeper social observations, which keeps the narrative both entertaining and insightful. Interestingly, the sense of journey and exploration in the story reminds me of planning something adventurous like a Going-to-the-Sun Road bike rental, where the experience itself becomes part of personal discovery. Overall, the piece leaves readers reflecting on growth, resilience, and the value of perspective.
