New Deal: THE SUNSET SISTERS by Cecilia Lyra
Updated: Jan 28, 2020
We’re thrilled today to share the news that Commissioning Editor Emily Gowers at Bookouture has acquired world English rights from Sam Hiyate of The Rights Factory to two novels by author Cecilia Lyra.
Cecilia’s first novel The Sunset Sisters will publish in June 2020 and centres around half-sisters Cassie and Julie, estranged for fifteen years, who must now spend a summer together in the Hamptons in order to secure their inheritance. The Sunset Sisters has been published in Germany, where it was a #1 bestseller, and film and TV rights are with Rich Green of The Gotham Group.
Emily said,
‘I am so excited to be working with Cecilia on these novels! Her powerful female characters and rich storytelling struck me from the start and long after finishing I still feel so emotionally invested in the lives of the characters I met in these books. I can’t wait to bring these incredible novels to the readers who are going to love them as much as me!’
Cecilia said,
‘From the very first conversation Emily and I had, I felt that she really got my work —and I absolutely love Bookouture’s disruptive and innovative publishing model. I am so lucky to have found a home here!’
