Krista White

Krista (she/her) is seeking fiction and nonfiction from Canadian, American, and international writers writing in English. She does not represent submissions created in any percentage by generative AI. She does not use AI to assess submissions or client materials.

In fiction, Krista is drawn to upmarket and literary writing. If genre elements are incorporated into your upmarket and literary stories, all the better. An author’s voice is almost everything to her; she wants to fall in love with what you have to say. Truth matters: she reads to learn more than she reads to escape. She hungers for stories with a moral angle: a character seeking to determine what is good in a gray scenario, or a protagonist holding fast to what is right despite a grueling trial or temptation. She loves narratives rich with psychological or philosophical insight, cultural nuance, and complex relationships. In other words, book club fiction: stories with social commentary that spark discussion. In large part she reads for setting; to be transported all over the globe, to experience setting as a character, especially as an antagonist. As a former executive recruiter, she finds careers fascinating and enjoys a workplace element. She loves to read stories set in the past, present, and near future. One or two minor speculative elements are of interest if the stories are grounded in real life.

In nonfiction, Krista seeks memoirs about romantic or parental relationships and those who have accomplished incredible things, preferably in their careers. A platform is a must nowadays, if not through social media, then through publishing credits of note. Krista seeks projects in the Business, Self-Help, and Cultural/Social Issues spaces, particularly around psychology and sociology. She is fascinated by how people think and how we can be our best selves together. Krista accepts cookbook submissions by referral only.

Also, in nonfiction, Krista is eager to represent projects for the Christian market. She is interested in nearly every subgenre of Christian nonfiction: memoir, devotionals, history, Bible studies, Christian living, self-help, theology, and apologetics. She’s especially interested in unexpected perspectives on a well-explored subject. If you are writing Christian nonfiction, platform is also a consideration. Social media is not a must, but she is eager to see passionate involvement within a sizable specific community, hopefully a community that has informed your writing.

Before pursuing publishing, Krista had a career in sales, culminating in co-founding a small executive recruitment firm. Krista’s novella, The Birdcage, is published by The Bombay Circle Press. She’s a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, having proudly served as their Vice President of Membership. Krista is also a member of PACLA, the Professional Association of Canadian Literary Agents. She lives north of Toronto in a quiet hamlet with her husband, sons, and vegetable garden.
