Bev Katz Rosenbaum

Bev Katz Rosenbaum is a publishing industry veteran. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a Specialist degree in English Language and Literature, she worked first as an editorial assistant at Harlequin Books, and then as an editor for several years before leaving to go freelance.

Bev continued to edit for Harlequin and was also a freelance acquisitions editor for McGraw-Hill Ryerson, where she bought and shaped short fiction and poetry by such Canadian literary giants as Patrick DeWitt and Teresa Toten for high school anthologies.

Bev has taught romance writing at George Brown College and created and taught (for five years) the Writing for the Children’s Market course of Centennial College’s post-graduate Children’s Entertainment program. Bev received anonymous, excellent reviews from her Centennial students every year she taught.

Bev has written two romance novels and three novels for teens. Her teen novels are I Was a Teenage Popsicle (Berkley/Penguin, 2006), its sequel Beyond Cool (Berkley/Penguin, 2007), and, most recently (Fall, 2019), Who is Tanksy?, a hi-lo novel with Orca’s ‘Currents’ line. Bev has also written for television--for the tween animated comedy, Stoked--and has contributed to several Smart Pop anthologies about popular culture.

Bev lives in Toronto and has two grown children and a lovely daughter-in-law. When she isn’t reading or writing or teaching or publicizing her books, she takes dance classes and hikes Toronto’s beautiful ravines. She also hangs out with the other members of Toronto’s amazing kid lit community. She is a member of CANSCAIP, SCBWI and TWUC as well as the CCBC. Oh, she also watches a LOT of TV. Way, way too much TV.
