Brooke Carter

Brooke Carter is a Canadian novelist. She was born and raised in the foothills of BC’s beautiful coastal mountain range, where she currently makes her home. She is the author of several books for young people, including the YA fantasy The Stone of Sorrow and the contemporary novels Another Miserable Love Song, Learning Seventeen (commended by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre as a Best Book for Teens), Lucky Break, The Unbroken Hearts Club (a CCBC Starred Best Book for Teens) and Double or Nothing (a Junior Library Guild Gold Selection). Her forthcoming books include the YA thriller Sulfur Heart and a YA Sci-fi called Star Eaters.

Brooke holds BFA and MFA degrees in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, and has had a rewarding career as a college instructor and professional copywriter. Her work in advertising has afforded her some amazing opportunities—like flying a helicopter and touring a chocolate factory.

Some things Brooke loves: the ever-present rain, teaching, daydreaming, writing diverse fiction for young people, loud music, and her amazing kids.
