Liz Kessick

Liz Kessick was born in Texas to an American mother and a British father but grew up in the only country they could compromise on — Canada.  During her undergraduate years, Liz won awards for her writing, and also produced and edited a literary magazine. She went on to complete a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Western Ontario but got distracted by her passion for coding HTML and has since spent most of her working life in technology. She’s lived in London, England, for over 20 years where she’s a well-known member of the tech community but has yet to drop her Canadian accent.  Liz rekindled her passion for writing after an attempt at NaNoWriMo in 2017 and hasn’t stopped since. She especially enjoys writing fiction based on her younger life, where she had a number of eccentric jobs, including spending one blissful and hilarious summer as an Edwardian farmwife at a historical park.  She lives with the hereditary genetic condition lipedema, an invisible disability affecting her everyday life.  Liz can be found in a flat overlooking the River Thames in south west London with her English husband, daughter, and a pair of Maine Coon cats. When she’s not writing she’s exploring London’s food scene, museums and historic sites.  She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the publishing/tech networking association Byte the Book.
