Kathryn Willms

Literary Agent

Kathryn Willms (she/her) represents writers of ambitious, smart, and transformative nonfiction. She loves working on projects that ask big questions, upend conventional thinking, and are infused with the writer’s unique passion and expertise. Bonus points if it’s funny or feminist!

She enthusiastically welcomes submissions from BIPOC and LGBTQ-2S creators.

A successful literary partnership is built on shared passion, creative support, honest and transparent communication, and a healthy dose of humour. For over 10 years, Kathryn has built successful partnerships with writers at all stages of their publishing careers. Prior to becoming a literary agent, she was a freelance editor and self-publishing consultant. Before that, she was VP and senior editor at Colborne Communications and publisher of the hybrid Iguana Books. She continues to work as an editor and writer in the education sector for clients such as Oxford University Press, Centennial College, George Brown College, and Say Yeah.

Originally from Surrey, BC, Kathryn holds an MA in English from the University of Calgary and lives in Toronto where select passions include city walks, camping, F1, Auston Matthews, cappuccinos, and dive bars.

Kathryn is treasurer of the Professional Association of Canadian Literary Agents.
