Stacey Kondla

Associate Agent

Stacey has been in the book business for 16 years. Her experience includes working as a Field Representative for Scholastic Book Fairs, managing the IndigoKids department at two different Chapters/Indigo stores, accepting freelance editing contracts, and serving on the organizing committee of When Words Collide (A Festival for Readers and Writers).

Stacey started providing manuscript evaluations for The Rights Factory in October 2017 and joined The Rights Factory as an Associate Agent in March 2018. Stacey has a keen interest in children’s books. She is currently seeking picture books, middle-grade novels, and YA novels. She would love to see more queries that are not fantasy (or if they are, they need to be very unique and set apart from the books already on bookstore shelves.) High on her wishlist are stories that either make her laugh or cry (or both!), that involve social issues or eco-issues, mysteries, thrillers, survival stories, stories that re-invent genres, historical and alternate histories, stories by marginalized peoples, LGBTQ stories, stories about disabilities, stories that are flat-out entertaining, stories that escape from reality and are fun to read, science fiction, stories with an element of romance, stories that have great fight scenes, feminist stories, retold lesser known fairy tales or classics, stories that are yours to tell, and stories with toilet humour. Dinosaurs are always a bonus.

Please note – your story can not have all of these elements as that would be too much Also high on her wishlist are non-fiction proposals for picture books, middle-grade, and YA. Narrative non-fiction for middle-grade and YA is very appealing. Picture book biographies are also of interest.
